In recent years, Alireza Firouzja has won several tournaments and titles as a young chess Grandmaster from Iran. His family was an avid player of the game back in Iran. He learned quickly how to play and became interested in becoming an expert player himself—he even received lessons from grandmasters like GM Ilia Smirnov!
His career started out when he was 11 years old and has continued through his early teenage years where he played in several tournaments including the World Youth Chess Olympiad held every other year in different locations around the world including Armenia, China etc.. During this time period he also competed at various national championships winning several medals along with being a member of various national teams representing Iran during international events.|
When he started chess, Kasparov was the only famous chess player he knew. Firouzja follows football and is a fan of Juventus. Alireza said earlier: I never entered chess for money, and the only thing I think about is the world championship.

Firouzja won his first international tournament at just 13 years old, beating all of his opponents in the final round before defeating Teimour Radjabov in an impressively short time span (only 40 moves). Firouzja was born on 31 December 1993 in Tehran, Iran. His father was a doctor who taught him how to play chess at an early age and his mother encouraged him too. He began playing competitively when he was eight years old by participating in various tournaments across Iran including Fajr International Youth Chess Championship (2013), Ghaemshahr Open (2014), 26th Iranian-Arabian Cup for Under 20s held in Najaf Kadhimain (2015).
